Our learning spaces

Advanced Engineering lab

Our brand new Advanced Engineering Lab is a state-of-the-art engineering teaching space. Designed for flexible teaching of both Robotics and IoT, it provides students with a high-tech, modern learning experience. Opening onto a large deck, the space allows a combined indoor/outdoor experience with room to test and learn both wheeled and air drones

Human-Centred Computing Laboratory

Designed for interdisciplinary research at the intersection of computer science, engineering, health technology, psychology, sports technology and design. This state-of-the-art human observation laboratory contains high-end computing facilities used to analyse video, audio and physiological sensor data.

Collaborative Robotics Laboratory

The CRL is home to our UR-10 robot, Baxter robot, industrial drones and portrait drawing robot. This lab is used predominantly by our research students, who study how humans interact with robots.

Internet of Things Laboratory

Experiment with sensor equipment, drones and WiFi networks used for engineering, network engineering and software engineering. This dedicated space for hands-on project work, allows students to connect and investigate the latest devices, datasets for research and applications.

Innovation Lab

Equipped with high-powered PC's and specialist software, this multipurpose computer laboratory has been specifically created to help students learn mobile technology, games programming, natural user interface, networking, cyber security, and robotics.

Get industry ready

Set yourself up for success with real-world work experience thanks to placements, internships and industry projects.

Practical experience

Step out of the classroom and into the real world thanks to º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s Work Integrated Learning (WIL). With professional practice at the heart of our Engineering and Information Technology degrees, you’ll gain real-world work experience while you study. Take part in placements or internships to develop your professionalism and soft skills like negotiation, communication and critical thinking.

Industry projects

In your final year as a technology student, you’ll complete an industry project designed to solve a real-world problem. This is where you’ll gain practical experience in the production and implementation of ICT or engineering solutions for government, a local business or community organisation.

Collaborative research projects

As part of our postgraduate technology degrees, you’ll have the opportunity to team up with our world-class academics and undertake a research project using our Human-Centred Technology research centre.

Featuring high-end computing facilities used to analyse video, audio and other sensory data, this is where you’ll have the opportunity to conduct research that connects computer science, health technology and psychology together.

“The final year industry project was the highlight of my º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ journey. I worked with a team of robotics researchers to design and manufacture an advanced robotic hexapod that’s now being used as an educational platform to teach robotics â€“ an incredibly valuable experience to kickstart my professional engineering career.â€
