Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander undergraduate students can receive up to two hours of tuition per week for each of the units they’re studying. Upon approval, students may access an additional five hours over the exam period.
A tutor experienced in your area of study will meet with you at a convenient time and location on Bruce campus or virtually via the Ngunnawal Centre Tutoring Program Canvas site.
Arrangements are flexible and based around your timetable, so can always be changed if necessary.
Study Skills provides study support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in the Ngunnawal Centre through the ASK Advisor service. The ASK Advisors are students trained to support their peers in a range of areas, including basic assignment, research and referencing help as well as support with º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ online systems, such as Myº¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵLearn (Canvas), ePortfolio (Mahara) and printing and library loan services.
If you’re an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student but haven’t met the admissions requirements for direct entry into your desired course at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, there are alternative pathways and opportunities you can explore.
Most medals are given for academic or meritorious achievement on the recommendation of your faculty or another member of the University community. The exception is the Canberra Medal; this is a program you can choose to participate in while you’re studying. Any medals you receive will appear on your academic transcript.
This medal is awarded in honour of the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ's first Indigenous Chancellor, Dr Tom Calma AO. The Tom Calma Medal is presented annually to a graduating Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student who has outstanding academic results and made a valuable contribution to the University or wider community. Nominations are made by members of staff or the University community.
